Six Muslim converts to get special houses

The foundation laying ceremony for the $307,395 'Rumah Bahagia' project for six Mualaf (Muslim converts) was held yesterday morning in Kampong Semabat, Temburong.
Construction is expected to be completed within nine months.
Present as chief guest was Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Dato Paduka Ustaz Hj Awang Badarudin, who led the ceremony. Also present were the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development, the Temburong District Officer, senior officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, penghulus, village chiefs and residents.
The special housing project is one of the responsibilities of the Religious Islamic Council Brunei, which looks after the welfare of the Muslim converts. There are about 12,000 Muslim converts in the country.
Meanwhile, the deputy minister also visited a 'Rumah Bahagia' occupied by four families in Kg Sibut, Mukim Amo Temburong. He also made a working visit to the Religious Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
