By Abdul Hameed, TwoCircles.net,

Mumbai: Maharashtra AUDF is all set to contest general elections at least in 7 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.

Dr. Azimuddin, secretary general of Maharashtra AUDF disclosed in a press statement, ‘The party has already fielded two candidates Mr. Yunus Manyar and Mrs. Mamta Vinayakrao Khandelkar from Yavatmal-Washim and Amravati (SC) Lok Sabha constituencies respectively which go for polling in the first phase on 16th April. We intend to nominate three more candidates in Pune, Thane and Mumbai north-central whose name will be declared after the nomination is filed.’

He added Maharashtra AUDF wanted to field its candidates in Akola and Buldhana constituencies too but due to some technical problems at the time of form submission it could not do so. ‘However, Mr. Mujahid Khan, alias Mazhar Khan and Bilal Seth who now have filed their nominations as independent candidates from Akola and Buldhana respectively will enjoy full support by Maharashtra AUDF.’

Farooq Mithaiwala, vice president of Maharashtra AUDF told, ‘The two actually would have been the party’s official candidates if we were allowed by the election commission to do so.’

The Western Maharashtra in-charge of the party Imtiyaz Peerzada said that the party is putting its candidates only in the constituencies where it thinks they are in a fighting position.

‘The party received nearly 50 applications from various constituencies out of which only 7 have been granted by the party president Badruddin Ajmal,’ stated Tarun Rathi, Mumbai president of Maharashtra AUDF.

“The AUDF is a political amalgamation of different socio-religious and educational organizations of all the Muslim denominations and other religions in Maharashtra. Dalit, OBCs and all those socially or politically oppressed or discriminated are the integral part of Maharashtra AUDF under the leadership of Maulana Badruddin Ajmal”, told Dr. Azimuddin.

AUDF has so far nominated candidates in Assam, West Bengal and Maharashtra. The party may nominate a few more candidates in Bihar, Jharkhand and UP in next few days with Lock & Keys as party’s election symbol read the press release issued by Maharashtra AUDF.
