Arunachal girl ‘molested’ in Delhi

NEW DELHI, Oct 24: A 22-year-old student from Arunachal Pradesh was allegedly molested by schoolboys in southeast Delhi, police said today. The incident was reported from Bharat Nagar in New Friends Colony of south Delhi yesterday when the victim was on her way back home from Jamia Milia Islamia University after attending classes. She was crossing the Chandrasekhar Government Boys’ High School when she was attacked, police sources said.

She was in a rickshaw when some schoolboys passed some lewd comments at her. When the victim went inside the school premises to complain, she was surrounded by more students who teased her, a senior police official said. She brought it to the notice of the Vice Chancellor of the university and a case was registered on the complaint of the Proctor. “According to the girl, when she was walking towards the Principal’s office, some of the boys gheraoed her, pulled her clothes and verbally abused her,” the official said.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Virender Singh said that the victim did not lodge any complaint on Thursday. The next day she discussed the matter with her friends and the university Vice Chancellor who forwarded a complaint to the police.
